It was a nice event, seeing our son and his friends arrive at the Plazy 3 Novembre in Riva del garda. A nice reunion.
The next day we continued northbound and rode 100 kms till we pitched our tent at the Kalterer See. Beautiful valleys we passed, with separated cycle roads, mainly on the dikes of the river Adige (Etsch). The following day we took it easy and reached Merano after only some 40 kms. Nice town. Then we continued to the place where we are now, Prato alla Stelvio or Prad am Stilfserjoch. It´s a small village at the beginning (or end) of the road that crosses a high pass into Switzerland. Our son has crossed it several times. On a racebike though, and that is something else than with a travelbike loaded with full camping equipment. That´s why we will not take this pass to go to Switzerland, but the next one, the Ofenpas. This one is only 2150 high. Tomorrow we will start climbing it from the 922 alt. we are now on. Our plan is to do it in 2 stages, camp at alt. 1375, in a village called Santa Martine (??). Then over the pass to Zernez and the next day to St. Moritz.
