Lago di Garda, Riva

Never before we packed our tent as wet as at the time we left Verona. The tent was pitched in between the thick walls of the fortress San Pietro under a ceiling of grapes. During the nigjht it had started raining, very hard in the morning and it only stopped around noon. We were fed up with waiting and started for our next stage, the Garda lake. Once out of the city we found a cycle road along a canal, then we had to cross a low pass and after some 28 kms we reached the shores of the lake in a beautiful little town. More of those followed. We stopped at a very small campsite along the road, where the muddy tent could dry a little. Fortunately it kept dry long enough, so that we could sleep in dry and comfortable circumstances. In the evening it started pouring again, but there was a small cave-like space, where we cooked our simple meal and had some local wine with it. Ia a way very comfartable and cute.

The next mornin was bright and we reached Riva del Garda in the early afternoon, found a campsite very close to the city centre. Just a 20 min. walk along a beautiful path on the shore of the lake. Riva is a very agreeable place to be, with its historic centre and beautiful view on the lake. In a couple of hours we hope to meet our son and his girlfriend on the Piazza 3 Novembre!
