Puerta Tejada (alt. 1000) – Tunja (alt. 1740)

68 kms. 1032 altimeters. The first kms are flat, immediately after Santander de Quilichao it goes up. From that time climbing and much undulating road. Undulating is what we, especially I, dislike very much. You push hard uphill, fly downhill and push again, to be repeated endlessly. It costs much more energy than a regular straightforward climb, even if it is long and steep. Happy to see a hotel at a bomba (gas station) at El Hogar, just before the peaje near Tunja. A surprisingly good place, 15000 COP (!). In the nice lobby there was a big flatscreen satellite-tv, on which we watched Mark Tuitert win the 1500 mtrs speed-skating gold medal in Vancouver. Good Dutch feelings far from home.
Eveline is very happy to be in the mountains again, she just loves them.
