Cycling Cambodia: Battambang – Phnom Penh

293 kms, all over route 5. It took us 3 days.
Day 1: Battambang – Pursat, 107 kms. Flat, good road. Brown rice paddies wih a lot of beuatiful very tall palm trees with perfectly round crowns. Much traffic that drives very fast. It is possible to cut this stage in half, there is accommodation in Muang Russey, at 50 kms.

Day 2: Pursat – Kampomg Chhnang, 95 kms. Similar circumstances. Very nice guesthouse.

Day 3: Kampong Chhnang – Phnom Penh, 91 kms. Same circumstances. Second haslf on a river dike. Very busy traffic, very noisy.

Cars drive very fast. Maybe this is because the roads are straight ans the distances long. This could stimulate fast driving. Buses are among the worst. They are big, have strong engines and come roaring past. When a populated area or slower traffic is to be passed the policy seeems to be to leave the right foot on the accelerator pedal and hold the hand on the horn.

PP is a very busy, very noisy, not very well organised and not very clean city. Lot of development, booming place.
