The mountains of Cantal and Auvergne are very beautiful. After some days we reached Le Puy-en-Velay, an old city with very peculiar religious symbols built on high rocks. The next day we decided to take a day’s rest. We could afford it in our planning and it was necessary, since the legs had begun to protest against all that climbing. It worked out well and a day later we crossed the Rhône and reached Hauterives. Here we visited the Palais Idéal, a piece of "primitive architecture" made some 100 years ago by mr. Cheval, a retired postman. But at least as nice was the open air jazz concert in the palais that we attended, another wonderful evening. A couple of days later we still had to conquer the Col de Richemont and again a day later we reached Geneva at app. 12.00 o’clock. And unbelievable: 90 minutes later we were on the train to NL. Well, in Basel it appeared that the scheduled train did not take bicycles. But we could reschedule our trip and by night train (we slept comfortably) we reached Arnhem the next morning. At app. 11.00 hrs. we were back home again. Another nice and rerwarding vacation behind us.
