La Provence

On Sunday morning Gino, Anna and the teckel Nara picked me up in front of my lodgings in Torino. The bike was put on top of the car and we went of for a 120 kms ride over the Alps west of Torino. The ride was very beautiful, since we chose a route via a small pass, that is not used or destined for international traffic. On the other side of the pass we had a mountain lunch and at app 1500 hrs we were in Briancon (alt app. 1300). Here I loaded my bike and after warm goodbyes I started my descent further into the valley. I rode another 30 kms and stopped in an almost deserted campsite. It`s obvious that the French holiday season is over. Mostly grey hair around now. On Monday I did another 100 kms, only to end up in the same sort of campsite, far away fro, a town. It had become very hot, so now and then I tried and get some freshness from the irrigation of the many fruit nurseries. Today I decided to stop at 1400 hrs at Monasque, where the camosite is not far fro, the centre. The reason for the early stop is the heat, that even seems to be extreme for this region. Tomorrow I hope to reach Aix en Provence, a beautiful city where at this moment there is an extensive exposition of the works of Cézanne. I will take my time to visit this place.
